Walking down to the motor way, man, those fumes don’t smell so sweet
But he’s there to watch them big green
beauties travelling up and down the middle of the street
The four fifty-eight needs a good lick of paint,
five fifteen’s running three minutes early
But he’s watching those tracks and he’s thinking bout
her eyes and her hair so beautiful and curly

Now he knows those tracks lead straight to her door
Across the other side of town maybe fifty stops or more
And he smiles while he thinks about that look on her face
When he rings that bell out the front of her place

Looking back,
there’s no denying the fact it was love since he first laid eyes as he sat there
Staring across from his desk in the classroom
while he struggle on through grade five
He remembers her framed in the doors two beautiful big old double you class
And he couldn’t remember a prettier union as he rang its bell and shuffled on past

Now he knows those tracks lead straight to her door
Across the other side of town maybe fifty stops or more
And he smiles while he thinks about that look on her face
When he rings that bell out the front of her place

He’s hanging around in the end of the line looking over their shoulder
He’s biding his time now he knows those controls like the back of his hand
And he’s missed on the road but he don’t give a damn

Friday morning was raining and wet, but the afternoon was oh so fine
With the keys that he borrowed from the man at the depot
as he climbs aboard the seventy-nine
Glides through the gates, gets a feel for the brakes on that sunset esplanade
And the dusk was slashed as that red and blue flashing as he pulled up onto her front yard
